I am one of Gods Chosen!!!
Nurse Practitioner
It was through my life struggles and challenges that gave me the courage, strength, and determination to rebirth Urban Hope Ministries into Jabez(s)... three entities: Jabez Customized Living Services, Jabez Blessing House, and Jabez Recovery and Healing Center.
For many years I’ve often thought to myself “why me”. Especially during the challenges and obstacles the game of life has taken me through. I had to endure those that wanted me to change, so they would not feel threatened or intimidated. I appear weak to make others feel strong. I dimmed my light to let others shine.
I no longer say “why me”, but now it’s “why not me”. I now know the importance of being that strong black woman that will pave the way for other black women. There were many black women before me that had to fight and endure similar pains and struggles. Their struggles helped to pave the way for me and my generation. I’m not talking about famous women we see on TV, but the everyday “ordinary women”. Like my grandmother, mother, aunts, and other black women I encountered throughout my life.
This has been a long journey.
If I had it do all over again, I would not change a thing! I now know that these were only tests to make me stronger, to help me grow and to move me closer to my God given destiny. I have the strength, courage and ability to help empower black women. I encourage you to keep fighting no matter how many times you’ve been knocked down; stand strong even when you come up against any barriers; face life struggles boldly and with the confidence that you are going to be victorious; and encounter those that may hate you with love. Remember; in life, it’s about the choices we make. More importantly, learn to love and respect yourself so that you can set the standard for how you want others to treat you.
Overall, I encourage [women] to keep fighting no matter how many times they fall down; stand strong even when you come up against any barriers; face life struggles boldly with ... confidence. ... Remember, in life, it's about the choices we make. More importantly, learn to love and respect yourself so that you can set the standard for how you want others to treat you. We basically just love people, I know people see love in me. We are faith-based, treating the mind, body and spirit. We must be balanced in all those areas. Remember to be healthy in body, you must be healthy in mind.
